Another Year Has Gone By...

... and I still have last year's unmailed Christmas postcards sitting on my desk. The top on the pile is addressed to the Cunninghams and includes a postscript urging Sarah to start a blog. She still hasn't. Probably because she never got my postcard.

She wasn't the only one. Most of them are addressed. But I am really challenged by putting on stamps. And walking out to the mailbox. And so for those of you who are sitting here in my unsent pile, for your belated benefit, I present last year's postcard.

I'm dumbfounded by the difference that a year makes. Serious changes, people.

Although I suppose the important things have stayed the same. Like my tendency toward lateness, for example. Or not-at-allness. Which is my cue to announce that Christmas postcards are not-at-all this year. This probably does not matter to most of you since cards from us were not-at-all last year too.

My apologies. I am not Superwoman like the rest of you. Okay, let's be honest. You can't qualify for Superwomanhood if you can't even remember to buy stamps. Or make a list of addresses. Or take a family photo during the full course of one year.

And put it that way, I sound pretty lame. Bummer.

  1. Elise I think your a superwoman. Your picutre from last year is darling . . .if only the kids wouldn't grow so fast! If it makes you feel any better I didn't send any last year and I ordered pictures and they still haven't arrived - so mine will definately be late if they even get sent. We love and miss you guys!

  2. Elise... you don't sound lame. You sound like you are living a busy wonderful life. And I think I speak for everyone when we say we LOVE you BLOG and as long as you keep it updated we'll all be satisfied. Or maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better because I'm not sending out cards either...

  3. We have yet to send a card out after 6 Christmases together. Only one year did I compose a letter, and it never even got edited. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas--guilt-free--because there are so many other things you are doing in your life that are more important than Christmas cards.

  4. We're in a recession. The post office is running at a billion dollar loss. They need you to not send your post cards more than they need to deliver them at a loss. Plus, you save trees! Merry Christmas, Nevilles!

  5. Gosh Elise, you still haven't learned. I've been trying to tell you since you were about 14: you're fine.

I have one baby and no employment, and I buy stamps off my mother because going to the post office sounds like climbing Mt. Everest. So does making an address list. That's what blogs are for, Honey. We come to you. You're doing fantastic.

  7. On another note...would you mind asking your sister-in-law Lorraine to invite her old friend Mandy Johns Cope to view her blog? I used to enjoy the privilege of spying in on her life, but got ousted when she went private without telling me! The nerve...anyway, as far as the cards go, it is fun to get them. We all enjoy seeing each other's growing families and reading about the year. But it's really fluff when it comes to the weightier matters. I'd say you're choosing the "better part", judging from you blog and the character I know you to possess. We can't all be Martha every year!

  8. Mandy, I know I had it before, but what's your email address so I can send it over to her?

And thanks for making me feel better about the parts of life I've chosen. I wish I could claim to be Martha even some of the time. lol.
